Crawlspace has vapor barrier on ground and insulation in joist bays, and is minimally vented; but research shows it would be better totally sealed, no insulation in joists and on walls instead. The house is relatively well air sealed, so this is the weak point and any weird stuff coming in from the crawl space is more stuck in the sealed house than before.

I have a hillside property built on a half basement/half crawl space. The basement is unfinished but I use it as a workshop and storage space. The house was built in 1950, so there isn't much in the way of waterproofing or exterior drainage. When it rains water tends to find its way in. I'd like to mitigate the issue by installing a sump pump and a vapor barrier on the crawl space side. The basement side is mostly above grade and uninsulated, and side driven rain comes in through the stucco, so I'd like to install some kind of moisture barrier here as well. I am on a bit of budget, so if it's an option, I'd be interested in buying the products and installing myself depending on the cost of labor.
